Firefighter injured, home destroyed after an early morning blaze

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Officials with the North Charleston Fire Department say a home was destroyed and a firefighter was injured after responding to a house fire early Saturday morning.

Fire officials say the blaze occurred just before 4 a.m. on Nevonna Street. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a single family home fully engulfed by flames.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, but the home was a total loss. Authorities say one firefighter sustained a minor injury during the incident. Officials say the firefighter was treated for that injury and released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
