MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The Mt. Pleasant woman who was struck by a SUV near the Shem Creek Bridge over the weekend has died.
According to the Charleston County Coroner's Office, 32-year-old Caroline Walters was pronounced dead at the Medical University of South Carolina at 4:29 a.m. Wednesday.
The coroner said Walters died from a traumatic brain injury.
Mt. Pleasant police say the accident happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday near the Shem Creek Bridge at Coleman Boulevard. Walters was rushed to MUSC in critical condition.
The incident report states officers arrived on scene to find a large crowd gathered around Walters. A witness told police he saw a woman drive her red Jeep through the intersection of Coleman Boulevard and Mill Street, while the light was green. The SUV then hit Walters, police said.
Major Stan Gragg with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department said Monday no charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
