WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested two North Charleston men accused of an armed robbery at a West Ashley apartment complex.
The Charleston Police Department charged 20-year-old Brandon Lloyd Daniels and 19-year-old Lamarkeis Forrest with attempted armed robbery and first-degree assault and battery.
Daniels is also charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a stolen handgun and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Sunday around 1 a.m., police responded to an apartment on Ashley River Road regarding gunshots.
The two victims said they were approaching the stairwell to an apartment building, when they saw two men wearing masks coming. The victims said one of the men was armed with a handgun.
The victims told officers that they took off running and heard several gunshots as they ran away. Authorities arrived on scene and saw a silver Chevy Cruze speed off from the area.
A police report states that a traffic stop was initiated and the passenger took off from the vehicle.
Officers say they saw the suspect discard a gun as he was fleeing. According to investigators, officers saw one of the suspects discard a gun as he was fleeing.
Authorities say the handgun was recovered and the suspect was apprehended. Police are continuing the investigation.
