Report: Man caught buying crack in middle of intersection

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) -

Walterboro Public Safety arrested a 49-year-old man Monday evening after an officer witnessed him taking part in a drug deal in the middle of an intersection.

Kenneth Davis, 49, was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an incident report, Davis and another male suspect were seen standing in the intersection of Henderson Street and Mincy Avenue around 5:41 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22. Police say the unnamed suspect was seen giving Davis a baggy containing a white substance

Police say the unnamed suspect ran off when the officer approached, but Davis was detained.

According to the report, the white substance in the baggy was a crack rock weighing 1-gram. Davis also had a scoring pad in his possession, which police say is typically used for shaving crack to smoke.

Davis was arrested and taken to the Colleton County Detention Center.
