BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County sheriff's deputies confiscated roughly 20 pounds of marijuana and 41 grams of ecstacy on Interstate 26 last week.
Sheriff's office spokesman Dan Moon said deputies stopped a vehicle traveling east on I-26 last Thursday after they saw the driver make an improper turn at mile marker 203.
Moon said deputies noticed the driver was extremely nervous when they were talking to him, and when they asked if they could search his vehicle, the man refused.
Deputies then brought a drug-sniffing K-9 out to walk around the car and the dog indicated drugs were in the car, Moon said.
During a subsequent search, deputies recovered 9,213 grams of marijuana along with 51 grams of MDMA, found in ecstacy.
The driver, Montez Trivell King, of North Charleston, was charged with trafficking marijuana and trafficking MDMA.
