A 48-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday evening after police say she kicked an officer while drunk at a Johns Island gas station.
Kimberly Ostrander was arrested and charged with public drunkenness and assaulting a police officer.
According to an incident report, Charleston police officers received a call Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. about a disorderly woman at the Kangaroo Gas Station located at 2802 Maybank Highway. When officers arrived, Ostrander was sitting by a gas pump, yelling into her phone.
Police say Ostrander smelled of alcohol, and admitted that she had been drinking before walking to the gas station.
When officers asked the suspect for her name, police say Ostrander began yelling and cursing at the officers.
According to officials, as one of the officers attempted to arrest Ostrander for public drunkenness, she kicked him in the leg.
Ostrander was then restrained and taken to Charleston County Detention Center.
