Summerville High School football Head Coach John McKissick got his 600th win when the Summerville Green Wave beat the Swamp Foxes at Ashley Ridge 37-21.

The 86-year-old Hall of Fame coach hit the major milestone Friday night.

"I feel good for the kids" McKissick said "They can tell everybody they were a part of the 600th win. I think they'd be proud of that cause they worked real hard."

The win for McKissick came at the expense of one of his former assistant coaches, Kenny Walker, who's now the head coach at Ashley Ridge. But Walker was gracious in defeat on Friday saying "I have a lot of respect for coach and this is a great honor for him. Obviously I didn't want it to come against us on our home field but it's a big milestone and just being able to witness it is big for our community."

One of McKissick's former players sent his congratulations to the coach via Twitter. AJ Green tweeted "Congrats to coach on his 600th win tonite!!! One of the best ever!!!"

McKissick is in his 61st year as a head coach. He became the sports all-time winningest coach back in 1993 with his 406th win at Wando. He won #500 in 2003.

Throughout McKissick's career, he has won 10 State Championships and was elected to the High School Football Hall of Fame in 1990.

He also received the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award at last year's Super Bowl.
