Report: Victims bound, assaulted during 2 home invasions

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are investigating two reported home invasions, one in which a sexual assault occurred, at an apartment complex on James Island early Saturday.

According to an incident report, two victims said three masked men forced their entry into the apartment in the 900 block of Riverland Drive and tied them up and ransacked the place.

One of the victims also told police a sexual assault occurred during the incident.

The victims also told police after the incident, one of the suspects grabbed one of the victims, took them to a nearby apartment unit, and told them to knock on the window to get someone to answer the front door.

Six victims inside that apartment told police two masked men dressed in all black and gloves walked in carrying handguns. Victims told officers one of the suspects also had a stun gun, which he used on two of the victims.

The victims said they were forcefully restrained while the suspects stole cash and physically assaulted two of them before fleeing on foot.

Two of the victims from that apartment were taken to Medical University of South Carolina for treatment of head injuries.

The report did not provide any information on the condition of the sexual assault victim.
