Lowcountry students writing 'Letters for Lattimore'

Students in Charleston County are practicing their writing skills by showing their support for an injured University of South Carolina football player.

James Island Elementary School students are learning how to write formal letters by writing "Letters for Lattimore".  Marcus Lattimore, a running back for the University of South Carolina, was injured in the 2nd quarter of Saturday's 38-35 victory over the Tennessee Vols.

Students and faculty at the school put their love for other teams aside to write letters of encouragement and get well wishes for the injured South Carolinian.

According to a release, Lattimore suffered a dislocated kneecap and damage to several ligaments when he was tackled during the game. Head Coach Steve Spurrier said the junior running back might not be ready to return to football until the 2014 season.
