NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a man they say shot another man in the hip on Dalton Street Friday morning.

North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor says Byron Waiters shot the man, who told officers he was delivering money to a person at Dalton Street at the time of the incident.

The victim told police that he had an argument with the suspect over money he felt he was owed for his light bill. According to an affidavit, the suspect walked away from the victim and went to his upstairs apartment and got a handgun.

Authorities say Waiters returned to the victim's front door and pointed the gun at his head and then shot him in the hip. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Waiters went before a judge Saturday morning where his bond was set at $75,000 for attempted murder.
