Tom Rice takes new congressional District 7 seat

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Republican Tom Rice has won the new congressional District 7 seat with 113,262 votes over Democrat Gloria Bromell Tinubu who had 94,979 votes with 78% precincts reporting.

District 7 includes the Greater Pee Dee and Grand Strand areas including Georgetown.

Tinubu was on the ballot twice. Once as a Democrat and once for the Working Families party.

    James Island family returning home to Israel Friday, awaiting FAA to lift ban

    A James Island family, hoping to catch their flight to Israel on Friday, is anxiously waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration to lift its ban. On Wednesday, the FAA extended the restriction of all U.S. flights to Tel Aviv for another 24 hours. The ban went into effect Tuesday after a rocket landed just a mile from Israel's busiest airport in Tel Aviv.
