DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies are on the lookout for two suspects who shot at a man who was trying to stop them from stealing his neighbor's trailer.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office responded to the Sunoco on 10060 Dorchester Road early Wednesday morning in reference to a larceny and shooting.

Authorities met with a 37-year-old man who said that he had been shot at multiple times as he attempted to stop thieves from stealing his neighbor's trailer.

The victim said it all started when he was at his home on White Church Lane and heard a noise in his neighbor's yard. According to the victim, he saw a truck hooked up to his neighbor's trailer.

Police say the man then got into his Jeep and followed the suspect's truck into another neighborhood where the driver and passenger of the truck both stepped out.

The victim said that the passenger took out a gun and fired two shots at him. The suspects then got back into the truck and the victim continued to follow them in his Jeep.

When the truck stopped again, the passenger came out and fired two to three shots at the victim with one bullet striking the front of the Jeep. The passenger then ran off on foot and the driver sped off.

The victim drove to a Sunoco where he called 911.

Investigators located the truck and trailer in the Crestwood subdivision in front of a home on Birchwood Drive. Officers found two pairs of bolt cutters inside the truck.

If you have any information you are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
