NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Officials with the North Charleston Police Department say they have arrested a 14-year-old boy after students at Garrett Academy of Technology reported the juvenile showing them a gun in a school bathroom.

Around 9 a.m., officers responded to the school and spoke to a teacher. The teacher told officers that two students told him that a student showed them a gun in a bathroom.

A police report states that the 14-year-old student denied having a gun.

According to police, more officers were called in and a K-9 search located the gun over a fence outside of school property.

The school was placed on administrative lockdown during the incident.

The teenager was booked at the Department of Juvenile Justice for carrying a weapon on school property.
