GREENVILLE, SC (WYFF) -

An Upstate science teacher resigned and has been arrested after police said she sent obscene texts and pictures of herself to two underage students.

On Friday, the principal of J.L. Mann High Academy was told about allegations of inappropriate texts to students when another teacher reported a conversation overheard between boys.

The administration immediately began its investigation and contacted the Greenville police.  The principal met with the teacher, 40-year-old Michelle Jensen, on Friday and she resigned while the investigation continued.

Jensen was a first-year teacher with Greenville County Schools. She was employed since Aug. 15 as a science teacher at J.L. Mann High Academy, initially as a certified sub and then as a full-time teacher effective Oct. 15.

Jensen is charged with two felony counts of unlawful dissemination of obscene materials to persons under 18 years of age and two counts of contributing to delinquency of a minor.

The charges will be communicated to the State Department of Education, which determines revocation of teaching certificates.
