SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Investigators with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office are on the lookout for the person responsible for shooting at an SUV which was transporting a woman to her doctor's appointment.
The driver, who works for a non emergency transport company, said he was picking up a woman in Summerville to take her to a doctor's appointment Wednesday afternoon.
According to the driver, when he was driving down Roberts Road he heard gunshots and heard the shots strike the side of his company vehicle, a 2003 Dodge Durango.
The driver then pulled over and discovered three bullet holes in the passengers side of the SUV. Investigators say they found a total of four bullet holes on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The woman told deputies that the SUV was shot somewhere around the Knightsville Baptist Church at the intersection of Central Avenue and Roberts Road.
Residents in the area said they did not hear any gunshots in the area. Deputies canvassed the area and reported not finding any spent shell casings.
The sheriff's office is continuing the investigation.
