Week 13 of H.S. Football Season; Goose Creek advances with win

SCHSL AAAA Playoffs

Goose Creek 35, Bluffton 25 - The Gators (13-0) built a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter on the Bobcats (11-2), then held on to advance to the AAAA Division 2 semifinals.  Rico Blanding ran for three touchdowns for Goose Creek, which now has to go back to Columbia for another hearing with the SCHSL executive committee on Monday, to determine if they can continue their season.

It has been a wild few days for the Gators after they were disqualified from the playoffs for using an ineligible player earlier in the week. Goose Creek did receive help from a Berkeley County judge on Friday, allowing the Gators to play. 

Gaffney 28, Stratford 12 - The Knights' (10-3) season ends in the AAAA Division 1 quarterfinals.

 

SCHSL AAA Playoffs

Strom Thurmond 27, Hanahan 10 - The Hawks (11-2) gave up 21 points after taking a 10-6 early in the third quarter on an 83-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Smalls to Sammy Richardson.

 

SCHSL AA Playoffs

Timberland 49, Edisto 20 - The Wolves (11-1) ran past the Cougars to set up a rematch with Dillon in the Lower State Finals.  Timberland and Dillon have met in the playoffs in each of the past four years, with the winner of that game going on to win the state title.  The Wolves will host the AA Division 1 Lower State Championship on Friday.

Bishop England 31, Lee Central 22 - The Battling Bishops (11-1) are back in the AA Division 2 Lower State finals, where they will visit Silver Bluff.  Griffie Loy ran for two touchdowns, and Lawton Fosberry returned an interception for a touchdown in the win.

 

SCHSL A Playoffs

Cross 41, Lake View 40 - The Trojans (10-3) won on the road for the second week in a row, coming back from a 26-7 deficit to advance to the A Division 2 state finals.
