The South Carolina Stingrays (7-11-0-1) fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators (12-4-1-0) 2-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon. Forward Shawn Weller scored his fifth goal of the season and goaltender Ryan Zapolski made 29 saves for the Stingrays.

The Gladiators opened the scoring on the power play at 2:28 of the first period when forward Christian Ouellet beat Zapolski past the blocker from the bottom of the left-wing circle.

Forward Chris Clackson gave the Gladiators a 2-0 lead at 10:23 of the second frame. The Stingrays cut the lead in half at 12:39 when Weller knocked a rebound past the pads of Gladiators netminder Louis Domingue (W, 22 saves on 23 shots). Forward Chris Langkow earned the lone assist.

Zapolski stood tall in the third period making 13 saves, but the Stingrays could not solve Domingue for the game-tying marker. The Stingrays ended day 0-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators 1-for-8.
