Porter-Gaud Senior Lexie Meyer signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Wofford on Monday. Meyer, a two-time SCISA all-state selection helped the Cyclones win 3 state titles in her time with the school.
"I never saw a better right side hitter than Lexie," said Head Coach Ashley Heidtke, SCISA Coach of the Year. "With that being said, I believe she is one of, if not the most, dominating hitter, of any position, in the state. She was not afraid to swing hard against big blocks, and usually found a way to put the ball down around them. She has strong jumping abilities and kept opponents on their toes since you don't see too many left-handed hitters. Lexie is a strong competitor and will be extremely successful at the collegiate level."
Lexie put up astounding numbers as a senior with 389 kills, 38 blocks, and 36 digs. She also passed the 1000 kill mark during the state title match.
In addition to the all-state selections, Meyer was also two time SCISA 3A All-Region, All-Lowcountry in 2011 and made the all-tournament teams for tournament at Porter-Gaud and Wando in 2011 and 2012.
