South Carolina State's Khalif Toombs was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Player of the Week, while teammate Matthew Hezekiah, was named Defensive Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday. Dwight Meikle of Hampton was named Rookie of the Week respectively.
Kahlif Toombs (G, 5-9, 165, Sr., Atlantic City, NJ) averaged 22 points, 2.5 rebounds, four assists, and two steals to lead the Bulldogs to two victories last week. Against Webber International Tooms posted 14 points with seven assists and three steals while shooting 2-of-3 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. He followed that performance with 30 points, connecting on 40-percent (8-of-16) from the field in 34 minutes of play against NJIT.
Matthew Hezekiah (F/C, 6-11, 235, Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.)averaged 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and one steal in a pair of non-conference victories last week. He posted a double-double of 22 points with 10 boards and four blocked shots against Webber International. He fell one-rebound shy of a his second double-double performance with nine boards and 10 points along with three blocks and two steals against NJIT.
Other Top Bulldog Performances
Adama "Louie" Adams (SCSU) posted back-to-back double digit scoring performances of 17 and 16 points as he aided the Bulldogs to a 2-0 mark last week.
