The scene. (Source: Alan Campbell)South Carolina Highway Patrol officials say a driver was killed early Wednesday after his log truck overturned on a road in Harleyville.
According to a report, 54-year-old Richard J. Solvey of Cottageville was driving in the 300 block of Second Bend Road around 5:30 a.m.
Troopers say Solvey lost control while going around a curve and drove off the right side of the road, spilling a load of logs, overturning, and striking two trees.
Dorchester County Coroner Christopher D. Nisbet says Solvey died on the scene from severe head trauma.
The motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
Troopers said the road was shut down for several hours as crews cleared the scene.
