WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston Police Department says a 42-year-old Folly Beach man wanted for growing marijuana at a West Ashley business was arrested last Thursday.

Investigators charged Christopher Paul Durand with trafficking marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

On Nov. 15, a police officer was conducting a business courtesy check when he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Self Lighting Company business on 2313 Ashley River Road.

Authorities say they then executed a search warrant and discovered a marijuana grow operation in the business.

According to police, officers confiscated 112 marijuana plants and around 234 grams of loose marijuana. Durand was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police are continuing the investigation.
