CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Fire Department officials say the fire in downtown Charleston that sent two injured people to the hospital Wednesday night is not suspicious.
Fire department spokesman Mark Ruppel said firefighters were called out to 80 Maple Street around 7:30 p.m. for a structure fire. Emergency crews on scene reported seeing heavy fire on the second floor of the home.
The condition of the residents taken to the hospital has not been released. According to fire officials, no one was trapped in the home.
While the cause of the fire is undetermined, investigators say they do not suspect foul play.
