CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
Georgia Bulldogs fans in Charleston will get together Friday night to share holiday cheer and to help children in the Lowcountry during the holiday season.
The UGA Charleston Alumni Chapter will hold their inaugural Hunkerin' Down for the Holidays tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ in West Ashley. UGA Alumni and friends are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or clothing for children under the age of 12. The donation will go to Debi's Kids.
Cash gifts will also be accepted, and will go towards feeing hungry families throughout the Lowcountry.
"While the fervor of the Bulldawg Nation may pulse most loudly on an autumn Saturday afternoon, the essence of what it means to be a Georgia Bulldog extends far beyond the patches of grass between the Hedges in Sanford Stadium," a post on the events Facebook page reads. "In a time of such trying economic hardship, let the generosity of our great Bulldawg community shine as a bright star in the cold winter's night."
Be sure to wear your most creative holiday attire as prizes will be handed out by Home Team's staff for those deemed to be the tackiest. Those in holiday-themed outfits may also get to experience exclusive deals.
The following items for donation are recommended by Debi's Kids:
Baby toys
Board games
Sports equipment
Boys and girls clothing ages 6-12
Books
Educational Items
Much more
Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ is located at 2209 Middle Street & 1205 Ashley River Road.
