NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A 28-year-old North Charleston man is behind bars after a traffic stop on Friday morning led to the discovery of nearly $4,000 in stolen goods.

Wade Alan Krauel was arrested early Friday morning and charged with possession of stolen property over $2,000.

According to an incident report, Krauel was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning in the parking lot of Hess Gas Station on Ashley Phosphate. While conducting a vehicle search, an officer uncovered a green bag containing numerous items of sterling silver dinnerware.

Police say the dinnerware matched the description of items that were stolen from a home on Brossy Circle on November 27. During the incident, officers say the home was broken into with a pry bar and every room in the home was ransacked, with a number of items stolen.

Krauel told officers the dinnerware belonged to his girlfriend's recently deceased aunt, and he was going to pawn the items for her.

A report states the items positively matched the description of the dinnerware that was stolen from the house on Brossy Circle. The victim's name was engraved on the bottom of one of the items.

A search warrant of Krauel's residence at Master's Inn on Rivers Avenue uncovered a large amount of jewelry and additional sterling silver dinnerware items, all stolen from the victim's home. The stolen items totaled approximately $4,000.

Krauel was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
