James Island apartment fire under investigation

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston Fire Department is investigating a fire at a James Island apartment complex.  

Firefighters said they were called to the EME Apartments on Central Park Road around 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

Officials said four units were damaged--one by fire, the others by smoke and water.

The Red Cross said it is assisting those impacted by the fire. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    A James Island family, hoping to catch their flight to Israel on Friday, is anxiously waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration to lift its ban. On Wednesday, the FAA extended the restriction of all U.S. flights to Tel Aviv for another 24 hours. The ban went into effect Tuesday after a rocket landed just a mile from Israel's busiest airport in Tel Aviv.
