WINNSBORO, SC (WIS) - A child is in her father's custody after the little girl's mother hit her with a vehicle and abandoned her during the attempted repossession of a Chevy Impala, according to a Fairfield County Sheriff's Department incident report.
The incident happened at 704 Golf Course Road around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
A representative of Action Recovery Service of Irmo was at the address attempting to repossess 27-year-old Kimberly Jones' 2004 Impala when the situation deteriorated, according to the report.
That's when Jones put the car in reverse at a high speed and, while attempting to get away, struck her 6-year-old daughter in the back with the door open, according to the report.
Despite telling her daughter to get into the car during the collision, Jones eventually sped away leaving the 6-year-old behind, the report states.
Deputies responded to the scene and, after checking the little girl out, called the Department of Social Services.
At the request of DSS, the girl's father was notified and responded to the sheriff's department to pick the victim up.
Deputies plan to request a warrant for Jones' request. It is unclear what charges Jones will face.
If you know where Jones is, you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
