HGTV's dream home on Kiawah will be given away to one lucky person

KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

HGTV will give away a house on Kiawah Island as the result of their 17th annual Dream Home Giveaway.

The fully furnished custom-built home, along with a car from GMC, and a $500,000 cash prize will be awarded to one lucky individual or family. Entries to the contest can be made daily starting December 28th on the HGTV web site, and the winner will be announced in March 2013.

Myles Trudell, the project architect, says, "To see how the house changes their life and to be with them and watch the tears flowing and watch their families gathering around it really makes it real."

Trudell says the house was designed in a "low country Zen" style, a mix of traditional and contemporary with a "modern clean line."

The home is 3,000 square feet, has three bedrooms, a central dining area, gourmet kitchen, and spectacular views of the Kiawah marshland.

"It's always someone who says they never thought they would win, they never typically win things and suddenly they've won the HGTV dream home," Trudell said.
