LINCOLNVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County deputies are looking for a man who ran off after crashing a stolen BMW following a chase in Lincolnville.

Major Jim Brady with the sheriff's office said deputies responded to 725 Jandrell Road around 12 a.m. Wednesday after receiving complaints about loud music. When deputies arrived, they found a BMW sitting in the home's driveway, blaring loud music.

Deputies said the driver in the BMW sped off as soon as they arrived. Brady said a deputy got into his cruiser and tried to catch up to the vehicle, which had already made it to Owens Drive.

The deputy lost sight of the vehicle as it rounded a bend near Clover Avenue, but as he rounded the bend, the deputy saw the BMW had struck a fire hydrant and a tree, Brady said.

Brady said the driver had ran off on foot, leaving behind his passenger, 27-year-old Michael Chaplin, who suffered minor injuries.

Deputies then checked Chaplin's records to find he had outstanding warrants for parole violation.

The BMW was reported stolen in North Charleston.

Deputies were not able to provide a detailed description of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the driver of the vehicle is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
