Man arrested in connection to James Island home invasions

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 20-year-old North Charleston man and are looking for two other suspects in connection to two home invasions on James Island where one of the victims was sexually assaulted.

The Charleston Police Department charged Tevin Kashawn Beaton with four counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault and battery and 10 counts of kidnapping.

On Oct. 27, around 5:15 a.m., three masked suspects entered a Riverland drive apartment, forcibly restrained the victims and ransacked the apartment.

Police say one of the victims was sexually assaulted.

A police report states that two of the suspects then took one of the victims to a nearby apartment to knock on the window so they could get inside.

According to investigators, when the suspects got inside, they restrained the residents, assaulted them and stole their money.

Police are still trying to identify the other suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 577-7434 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
