Stingrays Bury Titans in Overtime

Posted: Updated:

Forward Daniel Koger recorded three points (one goal, two assists) to help the South Carolina Stingrays (11-12-0-2) defeat the Trenton Titans (8-10-1-1) 3-2 in overtime at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night.

The Titans jumped in front first with a power-play goal from forward Ian Slater at 3:03 of the first period tapping a loose puck past Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (W, 29 saves on 31 shots). The Stingrays responded moments later with forward Tyler McNeely's seventh goal of the season at 4:47 knocking a pass from Hunter Bishop past the right pad of Titans netminder Scott Wedgewood (L, 14 saves on 17 shots) from the top of the crease. Koger added the second assist.

Koger made it a 2-1 Stingrays lead on the power play at 12:35 of the second period from forward Chris Langkow

Titans forward Andy Bohmbach knotted up the contest at 12:22 of the final period to force overtime. In the extra session, defenseman Damon Kipp caught a pass from Johnson and lifted it over the glove of Wedgewood for the game-winning tally. Koger netted the second assist. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play while the Titans went 1-for-4.

Celebrate Teddy Bear Toss Night benefiting Debi's Kids tomorrow, Saturday, December 8 at 7:05 p.m. at the Coliseum as the Stingrays battle the Titans. Bring new or gently used stuffed animals to the game and throw them on the ice when the Stingrays score their first goal! All stuffed animals will be donated to Debi's Kids and will bring holiday cheer to children in the Lowcountry. Let's set a new Teddy Bear Toss record!
