WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly accident that occurred early Saturday morning in Williamsburg County.
Troopers say that accident happened at 1:10 a.m. on Santee Road when a 2003 GMC pickup truck ran off the right side of the road.
Authorities say the vehicle overcorrected and crossed back over the highway and then overturned crashing into several trees and caught fire. Highway Patrol says the driver was killed, but all three passengers were able to get out of the vehicle on their own.
The Williamsburg County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 19-year-old Sidney Andrew Emerson of Georgetown County. According to the coroner, Emerson was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene.
This accident remains under investigation with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
