SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident after a woman was found severely injured on the side of the road in Summerville over the weekend.
Summerville Police Department officials say they found a 27-year-old woman lying on the side of Central Avenue near Parsons Road around 6 p.m. Saturday.
Police said they first thought the victim collapsed while walking along the road because no witnesses reported a hit-and-run, but x-rays taken at the hospital later confirmed she had been struck by an automobile.
The victim was listed in critical condition on Saturday, according to police. We asked MUSC officials for an update on her condition on Monday, but they were not able to provide any information.
