Charleston Southern sophomore guard Arlon Harper (College Park, Ga.) has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for games played Dec. 3-9, it was announced today by the Conference office.

Harper scored a career-high 30 points as the Bucs defeated cross-town rival The Citadel, 101-73, last Tuesday.  He was a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range and 11-of-14 overall from the field, and added three steals and two assists.  Harper had 13 points in the opening 11 minutes as CSU built a 29-13 lead, and finished without a turnover in 24 minutes of action.

A preseason All-Big South selection, Harper leads the Bucs in scoring at 16.3 points per game through eight games, good for sixth in the Big South. He is seventh in the league in steals at 2.2 per game.

High Point redshirt-freshman forward John Brown (Jacksonville, Fla.) has earned The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week honors.

Brown recorded his first collegiate double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds at Wake Forest last week.  He also blocked three shots, tallied two steals and had six offensive boards against the Demon Deacons.  Brown's alley-oop dunk late in the game was featured as ESPN SportsCenter's No. 3 play of the night -- his second Top 10 recognition in eight games this season.  Brown's breakaway dunk two minutes later had the Panthers within five points with 5:14 to play.

Also nominated for Player of the Week: John Brown (High Point), Joshua Clyburn (Presbyterian College), Jeremy Atkinson (UNC Asheville).

Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Ya Ya Anderson (Radford), Sam Hughes (UNC Asheville).
