Goose Creek passes first reading of smoking ban

Goose Creek passes 1st reading of smoking ban

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - The Goose Creek City Council passed the first reading of a proposed smoking ban by a vote of 4-3 Tuesday night.

If the ordinance is passed, it would ban smoking in businesses and public places.  We spoke with some residents at the meeting on Tuesday, and there were mixed feelings about the ban.

City Council will likely take a final vote on the matter in January 2013.

If the ban does not get approved, North Charleston and Goose Creek will be the only cities in the area without restrictions on smoking.

Charleston, Summerville, Mt. Pleasant, and unincorporated parts of Charleston County already have smoking bans in place.
