Beaufort County man accused of selling cocaine out of his home

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a 34-year-old St. Helena Island man is behind bars for selling drugs out of his home.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office charged Yuhon Lephree Simmons with trafficking cocaine, possession of scheduled drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say the arrest was a result of a two-month long drug investigation at a home on Kiwi Lane.  An incident report states that authorities were able to make controlled purchases of illegal drugs from Simmons at his home.

A search warrant was then executed Tuesday afternoon at Simmons home where investigators say they seized 17 grams of cocaine, 2 grams of marijuana, a tablet of hydrocodone and a .357 Smith and Wesson handgun.

Simmons was locked up at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
