GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have one person in custody after a 23-year-old man was found shot to death inside a wrecked car in Goose Creek.
The Berkeley County Coroner's Office says Darrell R. Allen of Goose Creek was found shot to death in a wrecked car.
Around 1 a.m., EMS and the Goose Creek Police Department responded to a single car accident on Lindy Creek Road. Investigators said they arrived to find Allen in a black 2013 Nissan Altima, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Allen's head was positioned under the passenger-side dashboard and his legs were facing the seat, an incident report states.
Police said they detected the odor of marijuana while looking into the vehicle. They also said they found a plastic baggie which appeared to contain a white powder substance.
A little over six hours later, police say a man arrived at the police department suffering from a gunshot wound to his right arm.
That man, 43-year-old David Chavis, is believed to have been in, or around, Allen's car at the time of the shooting, but the specifics of his involvement have not been determined, police said.
Chavis has been arrested on a firearms violation and more warrants are pending, according to police spokesperson Captain John Grainger.
Grainger said Friday morning the investigation was ongoing.
