COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A 19 year old is behind bars after police officers found drugs and a gun during a traffic stop in Walterboro Friday night.

The Walterboro Public Safety Department charged Louis Tyrell Edwards with possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

On Friday night, police responded to Bells Highway in reference to a suspicious person and vehicle. Officers say they found a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer and observed a "freshly" discarded blunt wrapper on the pavement outside the door of the suspect's vehicle.

According to investigators, several containers of alcohol could be seen in plain view in the rear passenger side floorboard of the suspect's vehicle.

A police report states that marijuana debris was found in the driver's seat and the center console. Investigators say the suspect pulled a small bag of marijuana from his pocket after officers asked if there was any more drugs.

Authorities say they also found a .22 caliber handgun on the suspect.
