Motorist hospitalized after fiery crash on Savannah Hwy

RAW: Savannah Hwy crash

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - One motorist was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a fiery crash on Savannah Highway, authorities say.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office Major Jim Brady said deputies and the St. Paul's Fire Department responded to Savannah Highway near Old Jacksonboro Road around 6:20 a.m. to find a wreck involving a Toyota Solara and a logging truck.

Brady said the driver of the Solara ran into the back of the logging truck, causing the sedan to catch fire, which was subsequently extinguished by firefighers.

The driver of the Solara was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The road reopened around 7:30 a.m.
