Charleston County Sheriff's Office detectives are on the lookout for a man who robbed a liquor store in West Ashley at gunpoint after he had failed hours earlier to rob another liquor store in North Charleston where a customer attacked him using a cane.
New surveillance photos released Monday shows the suspect robbing Reynolds Liquors on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston on Dec. 21. Store personnel said that a suspect took out a firearm and said he wanted all the money from the cash register.
Police say a man then hit the suspect over the head with his cane. The suspect then took off.
Major Jim Brady said hours after that robbery, the suspect entered Wholesale Liquors located at 1610 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. around 1:15 p.m. and demanded money while brandishing a firearm.
After taking an undetermined amount of money, deputies say the suspect left the store in an unknown direction.
Officials used a K-9 to track the suspect, but his trail was lost behind the business.
The suspect is described as a black male of average height, 130-150 pounds, and approximately 30-years-old. He is bald, and was wearing a black or dark gray hoodie and black pants.
