
The South Carolina Stingrays (13-15-1-3) fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones (17-8-2-0) 2-1 at U.S. Bank Arena Saturday night.
Cyclones forward Garret Wilson broke open the scoring midway through the second period on the power play slipping a shot under the pads of Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (L, 25 saves on 27 shots) from the top of the crease at 8:20. Forward John McFarland made it a two-goal Cyclones lead at 12:44 with his eighth tally of the season.
Stingrays forward Hunter Bishop pulled the game within one on the man advantage at 8:15 of the final period tapping a rebound past the right arm of Cyclones netminder Brian Foster (W, 25 saves on 26 shots). Forward Tyler McNeely and defenseman Luka Vidmar recorded assists. Both teams finished the contest 1-for-5 on the power play.
The Stingrays continue a four-game road trip Thursday, December 27 at 7:05 p.m. against the Gwinnet Gladiators at The Arena at Gwinnett Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, December 29 at 7:05 p.m. to host the Wheeling Nailers.
