GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says a man wanted for sexually assaulting a girl walking to school was arrested in Greenville, SC Thursday morning.
According to authorities , Charles James, of Lancaster, Calif., was wanted for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old that happened on Dec. 13. James was taken into custody Thursday morning at a residence in Greenville.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office filed five felony counts against James.
James sexually assaulted the victim as she walked to school, according to the charges.
The victim said when she noticed James walking behind her, she crossed the street. James also crossed the street and was getting closer to her, she told police. James grabbed the victim and dragged her into bushes along the south side of the street, the charges state. James then repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim, prosecutors said. Once the assault ended, James ran away, said the Los Angeles Sheriff Department.
