OC Nix leaving CSU For Alabama HS Job

Charleston Southern Offensive Coordinator Patrick Nix is leaving the Buccaneers to become the Head Coach at Scottsboro High in Alabama. The schools principal confirmed in an email to Live 5 that Nix's deal with the school was approved by the board Wednesday afternoon.

"We are very excited to have him and are proud to be the high school in which he chose to begin his high school football coaching career." Principal Kathy Hughes said in a statement.

Nix spent 3 seasons leading the offense for CSU in addition to coaching the offensive lineman and serving as the recruiting coordinator.

The Bucs offense bounced back in 2012 from a disastrous 2011 season. Their scoring went up 3 points per game and CSU improved to 5-6 after going 0-11 in 2011.

Before coming to Charleston, Nix spent 2 seasons as the offensive coordinator at Miami. He also had the same position at Georgia Tech from 2004-2006.

Nix is still popular in the state of Alabama where he helped lead Auburn to an undefeated season as the quarterback his sophomore season.
