After lifting the men's basketball team to a 1-0 start in conference play, Mercer senior Travis Smith has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday.
Smith's first career Player of the Week award comes on the heels of his career-high 25 point outing against Stetson on Monday at Hawkins Arena. Smith's 25 points led all players and was fueled by five-of-nine shooting from three-point range.
The Johns Island, South Carolina native has now posted double-figures in three of the last four games and hit five three pointers in two-straight outings. His season average of 11.5 points per game ranks 14th best among A-Sun competitors.
Smith and the Bears return to conference play on Wednesday against Florida Gulf Coast at Hawkins Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
