CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Bluffton advertising firm has been tapped to handle South Carolina's multi-million dollar tourism campaign.
The state on Thursday announced its intent to award the contract to BFG Communications of Bluffton. The contract for years had been handled by Greenville-based Leslie Advertising and its successor, the bounce agency.
The state Budget and Control board says the contract running for more than six years is potentially worth $57 million.
Tourism is 1 of the state's largest industries and pumps about $15 billion yearly into the South Carolina economy.
BFG has more than 250 employees. Its clients range from Coca-Cola to Warner Brother Entertainment and Hanes Brands.
Parks, Recreation and Tourism spokesman Marion Edmonds said BFG was selected from a group of about four finalists, all South Carolina ad agencies.
