DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say a man was taken to the hospital Sunday after he lost control of his SUV and struck two utility poles and a fence before overturning in Dorchester County.
According to Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant, the wreck happened around 6:20 p.m. on Ladson Road, when a 52-year-old man was traveling east in his 1995 Ford SUV.
Wyant said the SUV swerved off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole and a fence before swerving back over to the left side of the roadway and striking another pole and overturning.
The man was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment. As of Monday, he was listed in fair condition.
Fire department officials blocked the road for several hours as SCE&G crews worked to repair a low-hanging power line.
The road was reopened just before 9:30 p.m., Wyant said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
