Maine residents save Colleton County puppies from being put down

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Residents in Maine were quick to snatch up and save a dozen Colleton County puppies from being put down.

According to the Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, only four dogs remain of the 17 that were transported from South Carolina to Maine to be adopted.

The puppies were placed for adoption this past Saturday after arriving in Maine last week.

Each pet cost about 250 dollars to be adopted and part of that money will go back to Colleton County Animal Control.

Organization officials say another trip is scheduled where puppies and kittens are expected to be transported out-of-state to a new home.
