FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has charged a 63-year-old man, who's wanted for fraud in Indiana, with writing bad checks in Folly Beach.

Investigators charged Douglas Martin with three counts of fraud, according to Charleston County court records. Martin was arrested last Wednesday at a home on Folly Beach.

According to authorities, Martin was originally released on bail in January 2011 but fled to Folly Beach before he could be prosecuted for charges in Indiana.

Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Jim Brady says Martin was arrested Nov. 7, but that warrant was dropped by Allen County authorities after Martin had medical issues and was found to be unfit to travel to Indiana.

Indiana officials say Martin may have been feigning illness and authorities reinstituted the warrant.  He is awaiting extradition back to Indiana to face those charges.

Records show he was convicted of bank fraud in 2010.
