CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Coast Guard in Charleston is getting a new medium-sized rescue boat.
A ceremony is being held Thursday to mark the arrival of the new 45-foot boat. It's the first of 5 that will be delivered to Coast Guard Sector Charleston.
The new boats replace 41-foot utility boats assigned to Charleston that have been used since the 1970s.
The new boats have advanced electronic systems, water jet propulsion and a new integrated electronics system that allows crew members more control from the pilothouse.
