BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who they say robbed a convenience store and sprayed the store clerk in the face with pepper spray.
According to sheriff's office spokesman Dan Moon, the suspect robbed the Cross Convenience Store on Old Highway 6 on Tuesday, January 8 just before 8 a.m.
Deputies say the suspect approached the register to purchase a pack of gum. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect sprayed a pepper spray-like substance in the clerks face.
Moon said the female clerk closed the drawer, ran from the man, and called 911.
Deputies say the suspect stole the entire cash register and fled the scene in a gray or silver four-door sedan.
If you have any information on this incident, call the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office at 843-719-4412, or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
