CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The road which encircles Hampton Park will be closed for a few days this week while crews resurface the road and add a bicycle and pedestrian lane.

Charleston County Government officials said both lanes of Mary Murray Drive would be closed daily, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., this Monday through Friday.

Crews will remove and replace the old asphalt surface and will also add a new stripe to create a lane reserved for the cyclists and walkers who regularly use the road.

All construction areas will be marked with construction cones and signs.

The project is funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by Charleston County Government, in close coordination with the City of Charleston.

Charleston City Council approved the addition of the bike lane last June.
